Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said it would behoove governors to get along with President Trump during a time of national crisis.

“Take the blame when you have to,” Giuliani said on Fox News. “You know, if you play with your boss, sometimes it’s better if you don’t win the golf game.”

“He’s the boss,” Giuliani said. “He’s got all the resources … it’s just human nature that if you act like a responsible guy and he’s got real confidence that you’re doing what you’re doing, he’s going to give you everything you want.”

Trump has sparred with some governors in states hardest hit by the nationwide pandemic over funding for medical supplies, economic relief money, and other federal resources.

On Friday, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer alleged medical supply vendors were told by federal supply chain officials not to send equipment to her state.

Trump ripped Whitmer on Twitter, saying she likes “blaming everyone for her own ineptitude!”

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has also publicly pushed back on Trump’s assertion that he is overestimating the number of medical supplies New York needs.

More than 100,000 people in the United States have been infected with COVID-19, and 1,500 had died of the virus as of Saturday morning.
